Following the System

(This story is long but I had to share it with you)
I was having a conversation the other day with a good friend of mine. She was complaining about her job, all the hours she’s working and how she never has time to do anything for herself. She is a gorgeous 32 year old woman, has an amazing career as an Executive for a major television network and lives in a fabulous condo in Chicago overlooking Lake Shore Drive! Outside looking in-she seems to have everything going for her- but to her- she is going for everything and everyone else.
I suggested looking into a network marketing company, becoming an entrepreneur and coming up with a plan to fire her boss in a year or so. She looked at me and laughed as though I was speaking some sort of foreign language-
She said: “I’m not a sales person, and I don’t have that type of personality. And I don’t have time to add anything else to my schedule! I am so busy with work, I’m trying to get this promotion so I’ve been putting in extra hours. And I have a goal to finish paying off my student loans by the end of next year so I can’t think about doing anything else”
I just sat smiling as she rambled about what she doesn’t have and can’t do…
She seemed to get a little upset with me because of my expression and then she said: “I have my master’s degree, I worked hard to get where I am with my job and I make a 6 figure income! I am not waisting all that I’ve worked for to do some pyramid scheme! That may be your thing- but it aint mine!”
She said this as though she was trying to ruffle my feathers or something! LOL. I told her “Congratulations for following the system!”
“What system?” She said as she rolled her eyes and raised her eyebrows.
I said “The system that the majority of us are taught.. go to school… take out loans to pay for it…take 4-6 years getting your education…graduate then start paying back your loans by getting a good job at a big company…take years to climb the ladder to “make it” and build a comfortable life for yourself…and work REALLY hard to build someone else’s dream…take a vacation one week out of the year…then retire after your burnt out and sit back and watch your children follow the same system… Now that’s the life!!!” LOL
I thought her head was going to pop off… She looked at me like I just tore down her whole life plan, but she knew I was right!
I said: In actuality you are in a pyramid! Your company has the CEO at the top and you are somewhere down below working to make him rich! Network marketing is not a pyramid! It is a business model that is designed to create wealth, an unlimited stream of income and provide time freedom for the CEO…which is you! The company that you work for has a business model-a system! And when followed correctly it creates success for the company. Well the same goes for network marketing; there is a business model and a system that if worked correctly creates success!!!”
She still looked pretty steamed at me for challenging her-but I think a light bulb came on in her head!
I asked her: “Did you know that there are people making thousands of dollars a month in residual income? I know some people that make over $50,000 A MONTH in revenue from there network marketing business by only working a few hours a week! There are some people who do it just to earn an extra $500 a month to pay a car note or add to a mortgage! The cost of living in increasing everyday and your salary will probably stay the same.. so why not do something to supplement your income, or better yet replace it and you can join me on my next vacation!”
The point of my story here is there is a system to everything! Don’t get stuck with an average mindset and depend on your career or job to bring you happiness and fulfillment! Now don’t go out and quit your job tomorrow, but ask yourself this… “Who’s dream am I working to making a reality? Do I have time for myself? Am I really making enough money to live the lifestyle I want to live?” There are so many ways to create wealth in your life and network marketing is one of them. If you are already involved in one FANTASTIC! Make sure you love the product, understand the compensation plan, be consistent and FOLLOW THE SYSTEM!!! You can have anything you want in this life! But you have to go and get it!
